Train trip to DTLA MMF

Event Details

The Los Angeles Downtown Public Library is having their annual Mini Maker Faire on Dec 1, and we are taking the train up to visit it. We had a lot of fun on the train, at the faire, and in LA that day. It’s a fun adventure. And the faire was really quite good, with lots of makers tucked away in different parts of the library. The library building is also a historic landmark with a lot of history.

Please meet at the Oceanside Transit Center at 7:45 AM by the Mission Federal Credit Union ATM/South End ticket station at the transit center.  Parking is free in the big structure next door.  Train leaves at 8:15 so you want to make sure to have time to buy a train ticket. From experience, arrive early, bring both cash and a credit card. The stupid machines at the station often have issues, there are lines, and the next train isn’t until 11:24.

Cost: It’s $10 per person for the whole day! Even though you can by your ticket on the app, it would not give you access to the metro buses in LA so you’ll need to buy the actual ticket at the station if you would like to use the buses / metro in LA. (it’s about 1.5 miles to walk or take the Metro Purple line to Pershing Station) .

Ticket for LA Maker Faire is free! You can register for a ticket here:
https://dtla.makerfaire.com
We will get there about 10:45. If you decide to drive, the address is:
630 W 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA.

There are several good places to eat, including some right next to the library.

Train leaves Union station (again 1.5 mile walk or take the Metro Red Line) at 4:40pm. The Red Line leaves Pershing station at 4:25. Probably best to leave the Faire at 4:15 for the short walk to Pershing Square.
